We are continuing to collate the finds from the dig at Manston Kennels, this
is proving to be a long task due to the amount. Due to the great interest
in the site and the ramifications of the discoveries there, we have received
a great deal of assistance from the academic community for which we are
most grateful. We also have the possibility of some finds being displayed
in Leeds City Museum.

Kathy
and Jean gave a much acclaimed presentation on the excavation itself and
the follow on
work including the report at the WYAS day-school in November. They have
also recently been to London where they were warmly received by the English
Ceramics Circle. LAFS has been in
print, both in
the British Archaeology Magazine and The Yorkshire Evening Post. At Easter
we did a short dig at Mill Cottage in Austhorpe, a property owned at one
time by John Smeaton, the site proved to contain a great deal of historical
information. Weekends spent field-walking near Lazencroft also gave a clearer
picture of the development of the area dating back many years. Excursions
have been undertaken to Hungate in York and other sites for research and pleasure. We look forward
to seeing many people at the Exhibition we will be running as part of the
Festival of British Archaeology in the Still Room at Temple Newsam House over the
last two weeks in July. |
